Each player in the world of Rust has their own status area at the bottom right part of the screen. From the top down, this area shows the condition of the player, the health bar, the food bar, and the rads bar.

Conditions

At the very top of the status box is the your condition. There are six conditions that will show up under certain circumstances. If it's a regular day and nothing is happening out in the world, then nothing will appear.

Condition Trigger Effect Rust_bleeding.jpgThis condition appears after being attacked by a player, Wolf, or Bear. While Bleeding, you will lose health until you use a Bandage or Medkit. The bleeding may also slow down and stop on its own if you didn't die beforehand. Rust_cold.jpgThis condition appears at night when you don't have Armor on that is greater than or equal to 20, or when you're not near a campfire. While Cold, you will not regenerate health, and you will burn calories quicker than normal. Rust_comfort.jpgThis condition appears when near a campfire or while wearing Armor with 50 cold resistance. Comfort allows you to regenerate health 5x faster than usual, and you will burn calories slower than normal. Rust_crafting.jpgThis condition appears whenever you are Crafting items. While Crafting, you may exit the inventory screen, but you will move slower than normal and you will not be able to run until the item is complete. Rust_hunger.jpgThis condition appears when you reach 500 points of Food or lower. While Hungry, you will not regenerate health. Eat some cooked food to return to normal. Read more in the Food section below. Rust_radiation.jpgThis condition appears when you walk around irradiated areas. You will also hear a radiation gauge (geiger) when in these areas. Nothing will happen to you until you reach 500 Rads. When that happens, you will start losing health. Read more in the Rads section below. Health

The first bar within the status box is your Health bar. When this bar reaches 0, you will die and must restart with nothing unless you crafted a Sleeping Bag or Bed. If you crafted a Sleeping Bag or Bed, you can choose to respawn at their location, as long as they haven't been destroyed by other players, and it has been more than 5 minutes since you died last.

A number of situations can reduce a player's health. The most common is being attacked by other players or wildlife. When this happens, you may also get the bleeding condition. Use Bandages or Medkits to stop the bleeding and start regenerating health. Prevent the severity of health reduction when attacked by wearing Armor.

Health will regenerate on its own as long as the Food bar is above 500, the Rads bar is below 500, and you don't have the Bleeding, Cold, or Hunger conditions. If you have the Comfort condition, your health will regenerate 5x faster than normal.

Food

The second bar within the status box is your Food bar. When this bar reaches 500, you will get the Hunger condition. When it reaches 0, your Health bar will start depleting.

The Food bar will reduce through normal gameplay - commonly known as burning calories. If you have the Cold condition, you will burn calories quicker than usual. If you have the Comfort condition, you will burn calories slower than usual.

To fill this bar, simply eat cooked food and drink water. To get food, you will need to hunt the wild life with a Weapon or Tool. After it's dead, gather the food with a Tool and cook it on a Campfire. Once it's cooked, simply right click the cooked food from the inventory screen and select eat! When it comes to water, you will have to find it in supply boxes.

Rads

The third bar within the status box is your Rads bar. When his bar reaches 500, you will start losing Health.

The Rads bar increases when walking in irradiated areas. To reduce it, stay out of irradiated areas long enough or consume Anti-Radiation Pills or eat/drink items that contain water, such as Water Bottles, Tuna Cans, Cans of Beans, and Small Rations.
